1.1 Welcome to the Course
Hello and welcome to this Envato Tuts+ course. I’m Adi Purdila, and in this course I’ll show you how to take your presentations to the next level.
The thing is, when we think about making a presentation, we usually reach for Keynote or PowerPoint because that’s what we’re accustomed to. But there’s a very good third option—an HTML presentation framework called Reveal.js—and that’s what we’ll be using in this course.
We have a lot of ground to cover, so let’s kick things off with the basic installation. That’s coming up next.

1.1 Welcome to the Course
Hello and welcome to a new Envato Tuts+ course. I'm Adi Purdila, and today, I'm gonna show you how to take your presentations to the next level. Now, here's the thing. When we think about making a presentation, we usually reach out for PowerPoint or Keynote, because that's what we're accustomed to. That's what we know how to use. But there is a very good third option, an HTML presentation framework called Reveal JS. Now, here's what you'll learn in this course. We'll start by installing Reveal using the simple method. Then, we'll have a look at the basic usage and how to quickly create a presentation. In lesson three, we'll explore the full installation method which includes creating a local web server. And in lesson four, we'll start using the more advanced options in Reveal, Markdown being one of them. Then, we'll have a look at some of the configuration options. So that in lesson six we'll learn how to change the slide backgrounds, and transitions and also how to work with fragments. Then we'll check out the theming capabilities of the framework. And in the final lesson, we'll have a look at some very useful features, like PDF Export and speaker notes. All right, we have a lot of ground to cover. So let's kick things off with the basic installation. That's coming up next.
