2.2 What’s New in Version 2.0
As I mentioned in the introduction video, STUDIO is now at version two. And I've already covered version one briefly more than a year ago. And you'll find a link to that tutorial in the lesson notes. Now let's go ahead and see what kind of changes we're looking at in this version two. First of all, one of the biggest features is the Publish function. You can now publish your website from within STUDIO, which is really, really cool. Once you're finished designing it, you just hit Publish and you're gonna be taken to the Publish page. You set a subdomain here, let's say, tutsexample. Let's see if that's available, that's cool, so we're gonna hit Save, and we're gonna hit Publish. So now our website is up and running at this subdomain of studio.design. And you saw just how easy that was, two clicks and we're done. Another new feature in this version two is a more easier to use and a more intuitive drag and drop UI. So if you want to add an element, let's say, between these two elements, you just select your element. There is a set of four elements here, but you can expand this Elements panel to reveal more. Let's say you wanna add an image, well, you simply drag and drop, right? And you'll see that orange line. And that's gonna tell you exactly where your element is gonna be positioned. I can put it here, here, under here, maybe inside here. So it's much easier now to drag and drop elements into the page. It really makes for a much better experience. Also new in version two, we now have different positioning modes. So we can now choose to display an item as position relative, position absolute, or position fixed, which is fantastic. For example, I can choose position fixed for this nav bar simply by clicking here. And now if I go to the live preview, you can see that my nav bar stays at the top when scroll down the page. This is a really, really cool addition. And if you wanna change it back, well, simply select that element, hover over the Position here, and choose the one that you want. The next feature is the addition of dark mode, right, and why not? Because it seems nowadays, especially in the Mac ecosystem, dark mode has gained a lot of popularity. So you can hover on this icon, you can click it to switch between light mode and dark mode. So for example, if you're working in the night time, you don't want your eyes to be fatigued, you can switch dark mode. And then in the daylight, you can switch back to light mode, really, really cool. And finally, the last feature that I wanna talk about is the real-time collaboration with other team members. So, essentially, right here at the top, this is called the project bar. And right here, you can see, The people that are added to this project. And you can hit the plus sign, you can invite people by their emails. And they will have access to this project, as well. And they can make changes, they can publish it, they can generate live previews, and collaborate with other members. It's all really, really cool. And apart from those, there are, just a tiny bit here and there, refinements. Small details that have been tweaked by the STUDIO team that make the UI as a whole much cleaner. It looks a lot better and it's much easier to use. So now that I've given you kind of a rundown of the changes that happen in this version 2.0. Let's take a closer look at this UI, the user interface of STUDIO, and see what every little element is for. And kind of get a sense of the whole workflow that you will have inside STUDIO. And that's coming up in the next lesson.
