1.1 Welcome to the Course
As a front-end developer, you might find yourself writing the same code over and over again. I mean, there are only so many ways you can create a button or a grid, right?
This is where a front-end framework will make a huge difference. You can think of it like a starter theme, and by using the code from a framework, you’ll save a lot of time and will get a serious kickstart for your project.
In this short course, we’ll be taking a closer look at one of these frameworks. It’s called UIkit, and it’s free, easy to use, and actually quite powerful.
We’ll start by learning more about the framework, and then we’ll download it and build a simple page with it. In the end, we’ll do some light customization.
I think you’ll find that UIkit is a fantastic alternative to Foundation or Bootstrap—these being two of the most popular front-end frameworks out there. In the first lesson, we’ll take a closer look at this framework, so I’ll see you there.

We'll start by learning more about the framework. Then we'll download and build a simple page with it, and in the end, we'll do some light customization.
